Since the global success of “Seven Seconds” with Neneh Cherry, the powerful voice of this African tenor still echoes across the world. This Senegalese artist is charismatic and as strongly committed in his daily life as on the stage, Youssou N’Dour has become the ambassador of African music. With his group, “Super Étoile de Dakar”, "You" sings in the Wolof language about daily life, friendship and religious celebrations via ideological and pacifist songs. In the context of mbalax, syncopated popular music of Senegalese origin, the superstar battles for a range of causes in song, from human rights to the struggle against poverty, which he’s been actively engaged in since 2012 by virtue of his contribution to political life in Senegal.
