A few months ago, Israeli double bassist Avishai Cohen released his symphonic album “Two Roses”, the “project of a lifetime”, as he said himself. Following this album crowned with success and reviewed in more than a hundred magazines around the world, Avishai Cohen returned to the jazz trio and made a comeback with a dazzling line-up: Elchin Shirinov, still on piano and, on drums, the arrival of the young Roni Kaspi, an exceptional musician who joined the group on tour in summer 2021. This new album “Shifting Sands”, recorded in August 2021 and released in May 2022 on the Naïve label, reconnects with the very special alchemy that makes the charm of Avishai Cohen's music: great melodic lines, diverse, sought-after rhythms and a particular musical elegance that belongs only to him.
