Biography

An essential figure in creative and inspired French jazz, Émile Parisien made his way through the beginning of this century as few have managed to do: the alto and soprano saxophonist has applied himself to exploring tradition and history while going far beyond them. From his collaborations with Daniel Humair and Michel Portal to innovations alongside Jeff Mills or with his Quartet at ACT, Emile Parisien has established himself as the catalyst for new ideas, to the confines of marked territories. A new-found philosophy for the future new sextet of Emile Parisien, baptised Louise, alongside Frenchmen Roberto Negro and Manu Codjia, thanks to which the saxophonist crossed the Atlantic to join Americans Joe Martin, Nasheet Waits and Theo Croker. His most ambitious project to date, no doubt.
