Travel perhaps shapes youth; and certainly that of Gabi Hartmann.

Singer, author, composer and guitarist, she grew up in Paris where she was passionate about jazz and world music from an early age, and on reaching 20, she flew to Brazil to study at Sciences Po. Immersed in the samba and bossa nova of Rio, she decided to pursue studies in ethnomusicology in London. Her first EP, released last October, is an original mix of various collaborations in a French, American and Brazilian world specific to Gabi Hartmann. It’s a nostalgic sound quest whose influences range from jazz to French song via Brazilian music.
