Nice Jazz Festival 2023
Concert is over
Olivia Dean is all about sweet and down-to-earth lyrics, paired with a magnetic and radiant on-stage presence. That is why this young singer has been granted the title of rising star of British pop soul. This year, she comes to Nice to present her very first album, which has propelled her to the forefront of the scene – especially with her concert at the Camden Jazz Café, which has generated over 7 million views online.
Dean was born in the London borough of Haringey to an English father and a Jamaican-Guyanese mother, and grew up in Walthamstow. She took musical-theatre classes and participated in a gospel choir from an early age. She then attended the BRIT School.
It was in 2017 that she made her debut with the drum'n'bass band Rudimental. Two years later, she launched a solo career with "Ok Love You Bye" and "What Am I Gonna Do On Sundays?" and, since then, she has become a veritable London soul sensation.
